JUST 140: What the hottest Twitterers are doing Just 140 RSS

Sweet Su Ann

She sometimes accidentally Tweets stuff she shouldn't, and that is why we love the 21-year-old Su Ann who tells us a thing or two about her Twitter adventures.

When did you start Twittering?
Early to mid-2009 ... when I realised how conducive Twitter was for arranging my scattered thoughts!

What do you usually Tweet about?
Musings, sights, sounds, and silly moments that ought to be documented for posterity. Sometimes I tweet little Life Lessons, as a 21-year-old girl who's learning how to navigate them.

That's all?
Dan kerana kawan2 Amerikan saya juga mengikut Twitter stream saya, kadangkala saya tweet dalam Bahasa Malaysia tentang drama sensasi yang berlaku di sini!

Do you ever ReTweet? What are your favourite Tweets to RT?
I do not RT very often, but when I do, it's usually the FML stories that my friends sometimes have in their lives, or information that my friends would find useful.

Where do you Tweet from mostly?
From my laptop, when I'm supposed to be doing assignments but would rather tweet. And from my phone, in class, where I enjoy reporting what people in the classroom do when they're not paying attention to the lectures.

And do you Tweet very often?
Probably too often.

Does Twitter have any impact on your popular blog?
It doesn't very much, because I try to keep my blog and Twitter as slightly separate domains of expression. But this is becoming increasingly unreasonable, so I'll probably have a widget up on my blog soon.

Which do you prefer? Blogging or Twittering?
Blogging for sure. There's just too much to say, and 140 characters is not enough space!

I beg to differ but that's your opinion! Okay, let's talk etiquette. What should one never Tweet about?

Anything mean about John Mayer (@johncmayer) cos he'll bite back. HARD.

And have you encountered any controversial Tweets?
Not super controversial, but I came across tweets by someone who quoted things that my friends and I were saying at the mamak stall, mocking our idealistic let's-save-the-world conversation. He was tweeting right from the table too!

What are your general thoughts on Twitter?
Its main function is its network externality - it's usefulness is only directly correlated with how many people are using it. I think it's better suited for communication on large scales, and doesn't facilitate personal interaction as well as I'd like it to.

Can you describe yourself in 140 characters?
Chronically messy hair, messy heart, messy soul, messy Twitter feed; an optimist who's looking for all the small happy things in life.

How many followers do you have and is it enough?
I have about 1000+, and no it's not enough! Please follow me!

Which brings us to the golden question ... why should I follow you?
Cos I asked nicely and I said please! And sometimes I accidentally tweet stuff I shouldn't tweet ...
