Ferdinand to have police escort

Anton Ferdinand will be escorted by police to and from Loftus Road for QPR's grudge clash with Chelsea tomorrow.

SunSport can reveal the Rangers defender has forked out £30,000 on extra personal security in the wake of the John Terry race row.

The FA Cup fourth-round tie will see the first meeting between Ferdinand and Terry since the Chelsea skipper allegedly racially abused his rival last October.

Ferdinand, 26, received a death threat back in November and since then has ramped up security at his home.

Under police guidance, he has strengthened CCTV coverage, installed extra cameras and panic buttons for his family and even employed a private security firm run by former army personnel.

It is unlikely Ferdinand will shake Terry's hand before the game.

The Crown Prosecution Service are prosecuting Terry over allegations he made a racist comment towards Ferdinand.

England's captain, 31, will appear at West London Magistrates next Wednesday, though the case is likely to be adjourned for anything up to 10 weeks. - www.thesun.co.uk
